Belarus president off to Azerbaijan on official visit

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has left for Azerbaijan on a two-day official visit, BelTa news agency reported.

The aircraft with the Belarusian head of state on board departed from Minsk National Airport.

According to the program of the visit, Alexander Lukashenko is set to meet with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev for face-to-face talks and expanded-participation negotiations.

The two leaders are expected to discuss the state and prospects of advancing Belarusian-Azerbaijani relations, including trade and economic cooperation, work on joint cooperation projects, interaction in the area of investments, agribusiness, and sport.

A number of international documents will be signed after the talks. The Belarusian head of state is also expected to meet with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade.

Alexander Lukashenko paid official visits to Azerbaijan in 2007, 2010 and 2013. In June 2015 the head of state paid a working visit to Azerbaijan to attend the First European Games opening ceremony.
