President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights on Azerbaijan Alain Destexhe Feb. 9.
The president said relations between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe span more than 15 years. President Aliyev pointed out good cooperation between Azerbaijan and European institutions.
The president recalled his recent important and fruitful meetings in the European Union.
Measures to modernize Azerbaijan and strengthen democracy in the country, reforms, and work to diversify the economy were highlighted at the meeting.
The sides exchanged views over the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe.
