The 6th congress of the New Azerbaijan Party became a political forum expressing the dreams and wishes of the Azerbaijani people as a whole, MP Musa Guliyev told Trend Feb. 8.
Guliyev added that representatives of the congress from various regions of Azerbaijan said in their speeches that the policy pursued by the head of state is unequivocally supported in all regions.
"It was said at the congress that the people want further continuation of this policy. All representatives of the congress and people who spoke there supported the candidacy of the head of state Ilham Aliyev for the early presidential election to be held on April 11," he said.
According to him, the head of state, through his speech at the congress, showed the Party members the prospects for the development of Azerbaijan for the coming years.
"The head of state stressed at the congress the importance of social stability and showed that our country is a democratic, legal, civilized state and that it is developing along this path. At the same time, President Ilham Aliyev, stating that the socio-economic development will continue to grow rapidly after this, showed that human rights and freedoms that were defended in our country will be defended and developed in the future," MP said.
Guliyev noted that the head of state said that Azerbaijan's foreign policy will be based on international law and justice, and the international prestige of our country will grow in the near future. The head of state also noted that Azerbaijan is able to liberate its lands from occupation, and in the near future our lands will be liberated from occupation. Refugees and internally displaced persons will return to their homes.
"President Ilham Aliyev stressed that irrespective of changes in oil prices in the world, our country will continue to see its economic development in the development of the non-oil sector and, for the sake of the coming generation, revenues from oil in the form of foreign exchange reserves will accumulate in our fund. In his speech, President Ilham Aliyev called Irevan, Zangezur, Goyche and other lands the historical territories of Azerbaijan and also characterized our return to these lands as one of the main tasks of our people and youth," he said.
The VI Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku on Feb.8. The VI has made a decision to nominate candidacy of the Chairman of the Party, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the extraordinary presidential election scheduled for April 11, 2018. The decision was adopted unanimously.
