BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 13

By Jeyhun Alakbarov - Trend:

Measures to search for persons who went missing during the period of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are being continued, Trend reports citing Azerbaijan’s State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons.

The measures are being taken according to the trilateral statement of November 10, 2020, to clarify the fate of missing persons, and for exhumation of bodies in territories with possible burials in districts where military operations were carried out.

The Azerbaijani side is effectively cooperating with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the peacekeeping forces of Russia in this direction.

Following measures taken by the Commission on February 12 with the participation of representatives of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, the Association of Pathological Anatomy and Forensic Medical Expertise of the Ministry of Health, and with the mediation of the ICRC, the Armenian side passed over the remains of 7 bodies of alleged Azerbaijani citizens who went missing during the First Karabakh War near the city of Shusha.

After identification procedures, the bodies will be handed over to family members.
