BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 4. Azerbaijan-UK relations are on an upswing, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Health Rasim Ismayilov said at an event dedicated to health cooperation between the two countries on May 4 in Baku, Trend reports.
Meanwhile, economic and political cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UK is steadily developing.
He noted that UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan James Sharp made a great contribution to the development of these ties.
The deputy minister stressed that the development of Azerbaijan's social sphere has always been the focus of attention of the head of state.
"The development of healthcare remains one of the most important tasks. Thanks to the attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev in this area, Azerbaijan managed to easily overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the measures taken were the supply of medicines and medical equipment, an adaptation of existing health facilities for the treatment of COVID-19-infected patients, as well as the construction of modular hospitals in a very short time. All these are clear examples of the country's leadership's attention to the healthcare sector," the deputy minister said.
He added that the ongoing event will also promote the development of friendly relations and interaction between the two states.
