BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Taro Honda, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Trend.
Welcoming the Japanese delegation, Bayramov emphasized that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Japan.
The minister noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with Japan.
Honda in turn noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan is successfully developing in many areas, including political and economic ones. According to him, Azerbaijan, which plays an important role in terms of energy security, is an important partner of Japan in the region.
The sides also exchanged views on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan in the sphere of energy, alternative energy, economy, inter-parliamentary relations and other areas.
Bayramov informed the Japanese side in detail about the situation in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories from Armenian occupation, deliberate destruction of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia during the period of occupation, looting of cultural heritage, large-scale restoration and construction work carried out by Azerbaijani government in liberated lands, mine clearance, environmental protection and environmental protection.
The minister also thanked Japanese companies for their participation in construction process on the liberated lands of Azerbaijan.
In addition, Bayramov informed Honda on practical steps taken by Azerbaijan to establish sustainable peace in the region.
The sides at the meeting discussed cooperation within the framework of international organizations, regional issues, including the situation in Ukraine, also other issues of mutual interest, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
