BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 18.

The Azerbaijani community in London has held a rally in front of the office of the Amnesty International organization, Trend reports.

According to the State Committee for Diaspora Relations of Azerbaijan, the protest was held in opposition to Armenia's attempt to once more use the UN Security Council as a tool of political, military, and information-focused manipulation. It was organized by the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis living in Great Britain.

With slogans like "We demand justice for the destruction of Karabakh's ecological environment!" "We demand justice for mine victims!" "We demand justice for Azerbaijani hostages!" "Stop Armenia's ecological terrorism!" and "Armenian mines kill civilians!" the protesters waved Azerbaijani flags and posters.

The protesters demanded that Amnesty International take concrete steps to safeguard the environment of Azerbaijan's Karabakh region, stop Armenia from committing ecocide, maintain security, and defend the rights of Azerbaijani citizens there. They denounced the international organization for its lack of response to these apparent violations.

The war crimes and environmental crimes committed by Armenia, which has been pursuing an aggressive and invasive strategy towards Azerbaijan for 30 years, were brought to the notice of Londoners who expressed interest in the action. It was highlighted that 303 people have been killed by mine explosions in Azerbaijan since the end of the conflict, and that mines planted by the Armenian military in Azerbaijani territory pose a threat to civilian lives. The reluctance of the official Yerevan to supply maps was underlined throughout the protest as being unlawful and a flagrant violation of Azerbaijanis' human rights.

In addition, the mistreatment of Azerbaijanis, fragmentary evidence of which was disseminated earlier by Armenian media, contradicts Geneva Convention III, and several Azerbaijani soldiers taken hostage were subjected to physical and moral torture and insults. Also, as a result of Armenia's inadmissible actions, more than 60 thousand hectares of forest lands were devastated in Azerbaijan's Karabakh region, and rivers were polluted.

At the end of the event, a resolution of the action was submitted to the office of the international non-governmental organization Amnesty International.

In addition to Amnesty International, the Coordination Council's statement on awareness and support for Azerbaijan's peace efforts in the region was also sent to the UN and other international organizations.
