BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. Azerbaijan has established a new order regarding the conduct of religious ceremonies and the use of religious materials by foreigners and stateless persons held in the detention center, Trend reports.
The regulation was addressed in an amendment to the Migration Code, which was discussed during today’s session of the Legal Policy and State Building Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
The draft guarantees the right to freedom of conscience and religion for foreigners and stateless persons in the detention center, allowing them to conduct religious ceremonies and use religious items and literature.
The head of the center is responsible for ensuring that appropriate conditions are established for the conduct of these religious rites. Such ceremonies must be conducted in residential areas designated for foreigners and stateless persons, or in specific facilities allocated for this purpose, without infringing upon the rights of others detained in the center.
Upon the request of foreigners and stateless persons, religious representatives may be invited in accordance with the regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Azerbaijan from registered religious organizations to provide spiritual assistance and perform religious ceremonies.
