BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. A telephone conversation was held on October 31 between Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister, and Stephen Doughty, the UK Minister for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories, Trend reports via the country’s MFA.

The Ministry observed that the conversation concentrated on the agenda for cooperation between the two nations, as well as the present regional situation and the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UK, particularly in areas such as energy, education, mutual investments, and other sectors. They noted that the recent intensification of political dialogue, reciprocal visits, and the resumption of intergovernmental commissions would foster collaboration in new domains.

Jeyhun Bayramov provided a detailed overview of Azerbaijan's perspective on establishing sustainable peace in the region, outlining practical steps being taken and the ongoing peace process with Armenia.

It was highlighted that significant progress has been made in the negotiation process for a peace treaty initiated by Azerbaijan. However, territorial claims contained in the Armenian Constitution against Azerbaijan remain a major obstacle.

The conversation also addressed various avenues for collaboration in alternative energy, including solar energy production efforts between Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR) and bp, as well as preparations for the upcoming 29th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

Additionally, the call included an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest.
