Рђfshar Suleymani: I witnessed parliamentary elections to be democratic and fair

The opposition in Azerbaijan does not enjoy the people’s support. The 6 November parliamentary elections proved again, the electors trust the ruling party course and wish to determine their future themselves, the Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Afshar Suleymani said in a statement during his talk with journalists on 29 November, Trend reports.

В"I personally witnessed that the elections passed democratically and fairly. The people of Azerbaijan support the authorities, although some forces in the opposition wanted to yield dividends from the electoral process”, the Iranian Ambassador said, underlying some certain violations of the electoral legislation take place in any country, however, in the case with Azerbaijan their number does not affect the results of the elections.

The diplomat reminded that he was among the Iran's observation mission which monitored the voting process at the country’s 80 polling stations. В"The authorities of Azerbaijan have already undertaken certain moves to remove falsifications”, Suleymani said, noting, the opposition “is always displeased”.

According to the Iranian Ambassador, definite forces from outside try to instill their standards in the countries, however, “they forget, each country has its own standards”.
