The Election Block of Lawyers will not participate in the by-elections to parliament to be held on 13 May, Intigam Aliyev, the co-chair of the block, told Trend.
According to Aliyev, though the Election Block of Lawyers continues its activities, the block is involved in the legal processes, started after the 6 November parliamentary elections on the results of the elections, and improvement of the election legislation. The block will also put holding of referendum on restoration of the proportiuonal election system for discussion. Aliyev noted that there were numerous elements of the proportional system in the majority system, applied in the last parliamentary elections. Therefore, the elections may be held in the proportional form.
