Re- and by-elections to the parliament can be held in one and same day, the Secretary of the Central Elections Commission (CEC), told Trend.
By-elections to the parliament will be held in Azerbaijan on 13 May 2006 in 10 constituencies. However, the re-elections should be elected in the constituencies the victorious candidates where refused from their mandate.
According to Mammadov, the head of state is authorized to appoint the date for conduct of voting at the re-elections. The President can appoint the re- and buy-elects to one and same day, he noted.
In compliance with the Constitution, conduct of parliamentary elections is to be scheduled 125 days prior to the completion of the term of Milli Majlis. The parliamentary elections cannot be appointed on one and the same day with the presidential elections, municipal elections, as well as referendum. However, conduct of elections of similar character is allowed, he underlined.
