Many Azeris die and got injuries in tragic incident at Bauman bazaar of Moscow

Many Azerbaijanis died and injured during the roof caving at Bauman bazaar of Moscow, Trend reports quoting Bakhish Zeynalov, an adviser to the Azerbaijani embassy in Moscow, as stating to a local television channel ANS.

Citing Mayor Yuriy Luzhkov the diplomat said that the majority of the victims of the tragic incident were Azerbaijanis, as the major part of employees of the bazaar were mainly from Azerbaijan. The Bauman bazaar was a wholesale market and many employees were in the work places from knight to morning. As of preliminary data, 14 people died and 17 were rescued. The Ministry of Emergencies currently conducts rescue work in the place incident. According to the director of the bazaar around 40-50 people can remain under the obstructions.

According to Zeynalov, employees of the bazaar assert that the number of Azerbaijanis working for the market comprise 200-300. He refuted any version of terror attack referring to Luzhkov.

The incident took place at 05.45am [Moscow time]. The Prosecutor Office of Moscow instituted proceedings on the fact of roof caving at Bauman Bazaar in accordance with Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Russia (causing death of two or more people due to carelessness) and Article 293 of the Criminal Code of Russia (negligence), Anatoliy Zuayev, the Prosecutor of Moscow, told journalists. Zuayev said that three versions were under consideration: violation of exploitation rules of the building, security guidelines not to be implemented by the management of the bazaar, as well as mistakes in designing the building. Luzhkov said that the building of the bazaar was built in 1975.
