On 13 March Ogtay Asadov, the chair of the Millli Majlis [Parliament], met with Detlef Lengemann, the German Ambassador to Azerbaijan, the press service of the Milli Majlis told Trend.
The Azerbaijani chair spoke about the history of the friendly relations existing between our countries, mentioned the special part of the Presidents in development of the relations. According to Asadov, the relations expand on increasing line. We highly appreciate the support of the German MPs in the issue of Azerbaijans membership to CE, as well as the Germanys objective position in the solution of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict. We hope that this position will not change in the future, he added.
The Ambassador stated that Germany highly appreciated the Azerbaijans position in the region and interested in expansion of the bilateral relations. German will preside at the EU in 2006 and early 2007. Over this period Azerbaijan can rely on the Germans support.
Then the sides held exchange of opinions on perspectives of development of the bilateral relations, as well as with EU, the countrys integration into Euro-Atlantic bodies, expansion of Azerbaijani-German interparliamentary ties.
