Iranian ambassador in Azerbaijan, Afshar Souleymani shall be expelled from the country, National Front of the Single Azerbaijan party chairman, MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev told at the meeting of parliament on March 24, Trend reports.

After the renowned speech by the chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis from around the world, Javad Derakhti on the violations of the rights of Azerbaijanis living in Iran, which he made during the second meeting of Azerbaijanis from around the world on March 16, Iranian ambassador in Azerbaijan made a strict statement questioning the legitimacy of the meeting itself. At the same moment he has expressed the protest in a non diplomatic way.

Such position can not be tolerated. The ambassador said that Southern Azerbaijan is a part of Iran and threatened participants of the meeting. I think that government of Azerbaijan should take such statements seriously. Ambassador should either apologize or he should be expelled from the country, Hasanguliyev said

.

Another MP, Ana Veten party first vice chairman, Zahid Orudj, noted that ambassador` s statements contradict to the principles stated in international conventions. This statement and also claims that Shahriyar and Nizami were Persian poets show absolutely different intentions towards our country, he said.

Civil solidarity party chairman, MP Sabir Rustamhanli, said that he supports his colleagues statements.

Speaker Oktay Asadov, also noted that Iranian ambassador was too hasty in his statements. It is necessary to wait for an answer from the Foreign Affairs ministry, he said.
