On Friday Elmar Mammadyarov, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, received Lyu Kwang Chul, the charge daffair of the Korean Republic to Azerbaijan. Mammadyarov congratulated the Korean guest on new appointment and noted opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Korea soon. The Minsiter stressed it was necessary to hold joint business forums and establish intergovernmental economic commissions for further expansion of the bilateral relationship.
During the meeting the sides exchanged opinions on organization issues in regard to the forthcoming official visit of Roh Moo-hyun, the President of the Korean Republic, to Azerbaijan, as well as the bilateral documents to be signed during the visit. The Minister voiced assurance the visit would be successful and serve to development of the bilateral relationship.
The Korean charge daffair noted that Korean businessmen showed great interest in Azerbaijan. The diplomat stressed that the businessmen were particularly interested in the cooperation with Azerbaijan in oil, telecommunications, transport, as well as development of gold fields and other spheres.
He also highly appreciated the plan of the Azerbaijani-Korean Culture Association on organization of Azerbaijani culture days in Korean.
Besides, the sides touched upon other issues representing mutual interest.
