American Cinematography Academy invited Azerbaijan to join fight for Oscar for the first time

The American Cinematography Academy invited 83 countries to join the fight for the Oscar award in category of the best film in foreign language. According to the statement of the Academy, for the first time, such invitation was forwarded to Azerbaijan and Kirghizia, Trend reports.

For the participation in the competition, it is allowed for the movies taken during the period from October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006. One more compulsory term is at least weekly lease of film-nominate in commercial theatre.

The written application should be received by the academy no later than October 2, and the copy of films no later than October 13. No more than one application is accepted from each country.

The dialogue in the films shouldnt be only in English, but also in other languages. However, it is required the English subtitle.

Last year, the Oscar for the best foreign film was received in Hollywood by the creators of Sosi film from Republic of South Africa. And such award in 1956 was obtained by the film Road taken by Federico Fellin. Since then, 102 countries participated in fight for the prestigious award.
