In January to August 2006 a total of 3623.9m new manats ($4071.8m on average exchange rate of 0.89 AZN per 1 USD), has been invested in the Azerbaijani economy, which is 11.7% up as compared to the amount of investments put in 2005.

In August 2006, 459.6m AZN ($516.4m) of capital investments has been invested in the Azerbaijani economy with a growth pace of 3.8% as compared to last year, while they dropped 11.5% as compared to July 2006.

According to the State Statistics Committee, 1459.2m manats ($1639.6m) has been invested at the expense of internal sources, or 51.8% more than 2006. Special weight of internal investments made up 40.3%. Foreign investments constituted 2164.7m AZN ($2432.2m)

Investments put in major capital at the expense of funds of enterprises and organizations made up 2,710,7m manats (with 4.6% drop), banking credits 282.8m manats (192.2%), community funds - 200.7m AZN (175.5% up), budget funds 360.7m manats (+4 times), non-budgetary funds 51.6m manats (193.5%).

In compliance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 8 February 2006 it is planned to allocate 882.3m AZN for the implementation of construction work at the expense of the budget funds.

333.2m manats has been put in the construction of facilities, financed at the expense of budget funds, or 37.8% more than the target. 80% of all investments was directed at construction and repair work.

Investments directed at repair and construction work rose 10.6% and made 1894.2m manats. 3,104,4m manats (85.7%) has been directed for the construction of production facilities, while 519.5m manats (14.3%) non-production facilities
