Changing the composition of the election commissions will be discussed in the Venice Commission, the Head of the Social-Political Department of the Azerbaijani President's Apparat Ali Hasanov briefed the media, Trend reports.

In addition, he stressed that changing the composition of the election commissions is discussed with the Venice Commission. The Venice Commission had recommendations regarding this issue. The Azerbaijani Government made conclusions regarding these recommendations and forwarded them to the Commission. Debates will be organized on this issue, Hasanov underlined.

Hasanov announced the position of Azerbaijan with regard to this issue. Our position is that the composition of the election commissions should be formed on a parity base. Our goal is that the commissions are represented by the representatives of oppositional and pro-governmental parties and independent members whom are represented in the parliament. But if changing the composition of the commissions is included in the agenda, then additional proposals will be put forward. They may include removing the commissions from the policy and ensuring their activities as independent professional commissions, Hasanov said.
