The plan is to create a Government of Iravan Turks living in exile, the Head of the Igdir Municipality of Turkey, Nurettin Aras, briefed the media, Trend reports.
He stressed that several villages of Igdir are populated by persons in whose passports Iravan (present Yerevan) has been described as a place of birth. These persons are refugees from their historical land captured by Armenians, and they are grandchildren and even children of Turks who left their native land due to the massacre committed by Armenians at the beginning of 20th century. I am also one of them, Aras stated, adding that they live not only in Igdir, but also in Istanbul, Burse, as well as Germany, Holland and other countries.
Aras stressed that the refugees have established a society of Iravan Turks in Igdir, which will hold its General Congress in the near future. During the Congress, the Secretary General, and chairmen of the local departments will be elected and thereafter a center will be created outside Turkey to fight for the restoration of violated rights and create the government of Irevan Turks in exile.
We will raise the question before the international organizations and will prove the fact that Irevan is the old Turk city, Aras stated, adding that they will fight for restoration of violated rights and the return of property.
