Azerbaijan First Vice-Premier: Azerbaijan Denies Buying Russian Gas at the Price of $235 per 1,000 Cubic Meters

Yagub Eyyubov, Azerbaijan First Vice-Premier, said that Azerbaijan fuel and energy balance for 2007 is expected to be approved in a day or two, Trend reports.

According to him, a delay with the approval of the balance has been linked with the uncertainty with Russia importing gas to Azerbaijan until yesterday.

Position of the Azerbaijan Government, which was formed as result of the visit of SOCAR delegation to Moscow to negotiate with Gazprom, has become clear, said Mr. Eyyubov.

We rejected to buy gas at the price that had been proposed to us - $235 per 1000 cubic meters, since it does not meet our expectations and we said about that. However, the Russian party has proposed no alternative of the cooperation to Azerbaijan, he said.

According to the First Vice-Premier, Azerbaijan will not have any troubles in this issue in 2007. The Country may provide itself with the blue fuel at the expense of its own resources.

First of all it is proposed that we increase feeding the Baku oil refineries with oil. At the same time, gas at the electric power stations will be replaced by mazut, he said.
