Azerbaijan Ambassador: Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan Significantly Speed up Relations between Each Other

The Azerbaijan Embassy to Astana has recently looked like a burning spot. Every day we receive official delegations from our country. We are leaders on the number of visits among other sister nations, said Latif Gandilov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan, informs Trend Correspondent to Astana.

All that proves that cooperation between our countries are on the rise. The breaking news of 2006 has been Kazakhstan joining BTC (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline), as well as the signing of the agreement on carrying Kazakhstan oil via the pipeline. That was a milestone in relations between the two countries, said the Azerbaijan Ambassador.

The Caspian unites us, not divides. With signing the agreement, supplies of Kazakhstan oil to Azerbaijan will increase. This oil will be sent to the international oil markets and that will increase the importance of the two countries in the existing situation, when we face the issue on diversification of the supplies and ensuring the energy security of Europe, he said.

The issue was discussed during an energy forum with the participation of representatives of Azerbaijan Energy Ministry and SOCAR held in November, 2006.

Holding the Azerbaijani-Kazakhstan Business Forum with the participation of Heydar Babayev, Azerbaijan Economic Development Minister is another important event. The Forum has opened new possibilities for our cooperation, said the Ambassador.

Preparatory works for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission to be held in Astana in the beginning 2007, as well as the visit of Elmar Mammadyarov, Azerbaijan Foreign Minister to Kazakhstan are underway.
