MP Aydin Mirzazadeh: Meeting between Azerbaijan MPs and Leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh Separatist Regime Impossible

Nagorno-Karabakh and the other occupied territories are our lands and Azerbaijan MPs have the right to trip there. However the meeting between us (MPs вЂ" Trend) and the leadership of the separatist regime of Nagorno-Karabakh is impossible, Aydin Mirzazadeh, a Member of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), Member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE (Parliamentary Assembly to Council of Europe), has exclusively informed Trend.

Within the winter session of PACE, the sitting of the PACE Subcommittee for Nagorno-Karabakh was held. A UK Delegate, Lord Russell Johnston, the Chairman of the above-mentioned Subcommittee, put forward a proposal to the Azerbaijan and Armenian delegations to PACE to pay a visit to Nagorno-Karabakh together with members of the Subcommittee and him personally. The Azerbaijan delegation, showing constructiveness, did not object it.

Lord Russell Johnston said that he had plans to pay a visit to Nagorno-Karabakh either at the end of May or in the beginning of June, 2007. He wished that members of the Azerbaijan and Armenian delegations to PACE accompanied him. We had no objections. But where will he arrive, in Azerbaijan or Armenia? If the Azerbaijan delegation visits the occupied territories, where will the visit start from? These details should be discussed. Negotiations concerning the possible visit will be held as well, said Mr. Mirzazadeh. He said that during the sitting of the PACE Subcommittee, the Azerbaijan delegation once more sharply raised the issue on putting Resolution #1416, which was adopted by the Council of Europe 2 years ago. We noted that the Azerbaijani society supported the political course carried out by President Ilham Aliyev concerning the peaceful negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. That was aimed at the Armenian party. The Armenian delegation did not say whether they unanimously support the policy pur
sued by their President Robert Kocharyan, despite of the fact that there were those who were the members of the party Mr. Kocharyan led, said the Azerbaijan MP.
