Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr. P. Amirjanov / Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev received a delegation headed by the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Chamber of Commons of the British Parliament, Mike Gapes, on 7 June.
Gapes said that the current processes in Azerbaijan are of great interest to his country. The guest noted the high level of importance of the relations between Great Britain and Azerbaijan, as well as the close cooperation in economics, politics, and security fields. He voiced his satisfaction with the fact that due to Azerbaijan's initiative, BP company takes part in implementation of global regional energy projects.
President Ilham Aliyev pointed to the intensive dialogues between Azerbaijan and Great Britain on different levels and stated that these are important to the contribution of development of bilateral relations. The Azerbaijani President stressed the active part of BP in the process since the beginning of the implementation of an oil strategy in Azerbaijan. The President voiced his confidence that the visit would promote expansion of both inter-parliamentary and bilateral relations in different sectors.
