Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend E.Huseynli / Chingiz Mammadov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Minister has stated on 2 August at a workshop 'Support to Provision of Social Welfare of the Military - International Prospects' that the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry is carrying out large scale reforms to bring the Army in line with NATO standards.
In addition, the Azerbaijan President's Executive Power, the Parliament and the Government are carrying out democratic control over the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. The Deputy Minister noted that joint work and exchange of opinions are carried out with certain foreign countries on the level of experts so as to develop democratic control over the Army.
In accordance with NATO standards, public control should be applied in the Army and the alliance co-operates with the Azerbaijani Defense Minister in this direction.
