Azerbaijani Opposition Party to Appeal to European Court on Human Rights

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / Fuad Mustafayev, the Deputy Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), stated that the party will appeal to the European Court on Human Rights.

"Now we are developing documents to appeal to the Azerbaijani Supreme Court. We do not expect a fair decision by this Court. The main issue for us is to pass the necessary procedures to appeal to the European Court," Mustafayev said.

Mustafayev noted that alongside the PFPA, the Azadlig newspaper, Turan information agency and other organizations will appeal to the European Court.

Since 1993 the PFPA has been located in the office of the Azadlyg newspaper on Khagani 33 street.

The PFPA is presently a member and co-fouder of the Azadlyg bloc. The founder and Chairman of the bloc was Abulfaz Elchibayov until 2000. From 2000 Ali Karimli, a former MP, heads the bloc.

The Azadlyg bloc unites three opposition parties: the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan; the Liberal Party of Azerebaijan; and the Citizen and Development Party of Azerbaijan.
