Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The date of the court hearing on the lawsuit of Citizen and Development Party of Azerbaijan against the Justice Ministry of Azerbaijan was fixed for 23 August, the chairman of the party Ali Aliyev stated.

After its constituent meeting, the party submitted its documents for registration at the Justice Ministry. However, although one year has passed, the ministry has not registered the party. In June, the party lodged a complaint at Yasamal District Court of Baku City.

In June the preparatory court hearing was fixed twice, but both hearings were postponed due to the absence of the defendant. Aliyev said that the complaint will be considered by new judge Rafig Gurbanov. On 23 August the party representatives will meet with the new judge and the date of the hearing will be fixed.

The Head of the Ministry's Human Rights and Public Relations Department, Faig Gurbanov, reported to Trend that the parties are registered in accordance with the law. The registration may be delayed due to shortfalls in the documents of the party.

According to Gurbanov, there is a valid reason for the absence of the ministry's representatives in the hearing.

In Azerbaijan, State registration of the parties is carried out by the Justice Ministry. Several political parties and NGOs face problems in receiving a license.
