Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The leadership and members of the Classic Popular Front Party (CPFP) visited the grave of the late A.Elchibay in the Cemetery of Honours on 23 August. The companion-in-arms of Abulfaz Elchibay, the former President of Azerbaijan and leader of the National Liberation Movement, was unable to attend this year. It is the 7th anniversary of the death of A.Elchibay.
CPFP held a procession from the Mashadi Azizbayov monument to the Cemetery of Honours. CPFP considers themselves as successors of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), headed by A.Elchibay. The members of PFPA also visited A.Elchibay's grave. Isa Gambar, leader of the Musavat Party of Azerbaijan was also present.
Ali Karimli, Chairman of the PFPA, has stated that former supporters of A.Elchibay deny their past and have openly demonstrated this.
According to the chairman of the CPFP, Mirmahmud Miralioglu, and Elchibay's companion-in-arms made a range of promises, which they haven been unable to implement as yet. For this Miralioglu apologised.
Abulfaz Gadirguluoglu Aliyev (Elchibay) was born in Kalaki village of Ordubad region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan in 24 June 1938.
