EU not to Support Military Operations in  Caucasus: Austrian Scholar

Austria, Vienna / corr. Trend A. Asgarov/ The European Union countries will not support the solution of the 'frozen conflicts' in Caucasus by means of war. "The European Union will not support any military operations in Caucasus," Martin Malek, the representative of the Academy of National Defense of Austria said in Vienna in the forum of Azerbaijani students studying in the Central and East Europe.

Europe is ready to provide any support for the peaceful settlement of the conflicts in Caucasus and to establish stability in the region, Malek said during the discussions of ways of settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. Analyst said that there is not enough information about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in Austria and he called on to make efforts to find a way out of the situation. " Austria is very interested in Azerbaijan," he said.

It was mentioned during the forum that it is important to make Azerbaijani youth more active in the solution of Karabakh conflict. Rovshan Rzayev, the Azerbaijani MP stressed the importance to confront information war by Armenian diasporas. Intigam Babayev, the deputy minister of youth and sport of Azerbaijan said that is important to take advantage of internet in order to confront information war by Armenia and Armenian lobby.

Volfang Sporrer, the head of the Austrian OMV, the oil and gas company, also attended the forum and made a report where he informed of Nabucco project which envisages the construction of the gas pipeline system to transport natural gas of Central Asia and Azerbaijan to the European markets. The Austrian company is one of the shareholders of the consortium on Nabucco.

Fuad Ismayilov, the ambassador of Azerbaijan in Austria, who took part in the debates as well and said that special emphasis was put on the attraction of new suppliers to the pipeline as Azerbaijani gas is not sufficient to fill up the pipeline. Therefore, the level of cooperation in the project is important than the participation of the suppliers.
