Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 April / Trend corr R. Ergun/ "Members of the Referee Committee of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) have been dismissed," Khagani Mammadov, the new chairman of the Referee Committee, said to Trend on 21 April.
At the beginning of April, Khagani Mammadov replaced Murad Mammadov as chairman of the Referee Committee. Khagani is a former FIFA referee and chairman of the Referee Committee from 1998 to 2001. The Referee Committee includes 5 members.
Mammadov said that the names of the new members of the Committee will be divulged at the Committee's meeting this week.
He said that the referees judging in the first division will manage the Azerbaijani football major league games. "I do not to black list, but if any referees fail to fulfil his task, we will remove him and use the youth from the first division," Mammadov said.
Mammadov is expected to reject such senior referees as Imankhan Sultani, Munis Abdullayev and Igor Shpakovski.
The new chairman also opposed inviting foreign referees to manage the major league games in the next season. So far, foreign referees were invited thrice to the games of the Azerbaijani football teams. The last one was the match between Olympic and Neftchi. It was refereed by Knut Kircher.
