Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 May /corr. Trend E.Babayev / The Press Council of Azerbaijan has devised a pack of proposals to resolve social problems of the journalists. "By 22 July - the Day of National Press, we will try to present this issue to the agenda and reach some progresses in this regard," the Chairman of the Press Council, Aflatun Amashov, said.

Last week, the leadership of Azerbaijani Lider TV provided apartments to its employees. Azad Azerbaijan TV channel is also prepared to take such a step.

More than 2000 newspapers and journalists have been registered in Azerbaijan. Of them, more than 30 are published daily.

"Social situation of the newspapers is not good and they are unable to provide apartments to its journalists," he said. In addition, Amashov stated that in many countries, while employing the journalist, contract is signed with him/her to provide an apartment.

"We are concerned by social situation of journalists in Azerbaijan. A conception has been sent to the Presidential Administration in this regard," Amashov said. He added that one of the optimal ways of settling apartment problem of the journalists is the construction of separate town for journalists. Privilege credits may be provided to them for apartment.

According to Amashov, last year works in this direction were carried out in co-operation with the Baku City Executive Power. "Several facilities were suggested in reply to appeals of the journalists, but currently refugees reside there," Amashov said.

He stressed that all possible variants will be used to resolve the apartment problems of the journalists on the Day of National Press.
