We Played Very Well - Scolari

The Portuguese pulled out a good performance when it mattered against a very cohesive Turkish side, and could have walked out of Stade de Geneve with a much better result to show for their display.

Scolari was visibly happy with the result achieved, but he stressed that there is still much work ahead.

"This result has a big importance, because it is always positive to get a win right in the start of a competition that is so complicated," he said after the game, the Goal.com reported.

"Now, we have 50% of our work done. Everyone knows that in a four-team group six points are enough to go through."

On Portugal's display, the Brazilian coach added: "We played very well the entire game, with good technical quality and also physical condition. The whole group showed a lot of dedication and that is crucial.

"How far we can go playing like this? For now, until the second phase, the quarterfinals, then it will be step by step."

The Portuguese squad confirmed earlier today that goalkeeper Quim will miss the Euro tournament after contracting a wrist injury during Friday's tournament.

Scolari considers that "it is always hard to play football at the best condition", adding that "Quim is missing a great chance, the second of his career."

"Everyone will dedicate this win to Quim, because he is one of ours," he added.
