Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 September / Trend corr. J.Babayeva/ Financial independence must be the key principle of news agencies, Wolfgang Vyslozil, president of Austria Press Agency (APA) and president of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), said.

"News agencies must expand their economic bases. The funds allocated by the State must be little. Agencies must not depend on the State," Vyslozil said in Baku at the meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Executive Committee on 2 September.

According to Vyslozil, EANA is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijani news agencies.

Every country is represented by one agency at the organization. Over 30% of the EANA news agencies are non-state and were recognized as most dynamic ones in Europe.
