Azerbaijani junior group team on rhythmic gymnastics ranks third in international tournament in Estonia

The Azerbaijani junior group team preparing for the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championship in Baku scheduled on May ranked the third place in the international tournament in Estonia.

Sabina Abbasova, Aelita Khalafova, Kamila Mammadova, Nigar Abdusalimova, Evgeniya Zhidkova and reserve gymnast Nargiz Aliyeva managed to hold this medal position on the second day scoring totally 45.08, the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation told Trend on Feb. 23.

"Thus, the first appearing of the team was successful, Mariana Vasileva, the coach of the team said after the tournament. Presently, we think about Budapest where we will appear in the international tournament on March 6-8. Peak of my gymnasts will occur in May - Euro-2009."

Baku gymnast Aysha Mustafayeva, 13 , won three silver and one bronze Estonian medals. Aysha ranked the second place with skipping-rope, hoop and ball (19.63 points) by demonstrating the similar result in the first two appearances (20.25). She could gain silver but ranked the third place with the result similar with ball. She gave the pas 0.02 scores to Bulgarian gymnast Stelian Yankova.

Azerbaijan won another bronze medal in Estonia. Baku gymnast Ekaterina Prokopenko, 12 , ranked the third place in the exercise with ball - 19.5 points. She ranked the eighth place in the exercise with hoop (18.05) and club (14.4).
