Azerbaijan, Baku, May 8 / Trend , J.Babayeva/
The Azerbaijani Education Minister does not consider necessary to teach a separate subject on the Nagorno-Karabakh.
"All textbooks at secondary schools comprise detailed and necessary information about the Nagorno-Karabakh. There are textbooks compiled under experts' supervision," Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov told journalists on May 8.
The minister also denied a report that teachers' staff and lesson hours at all education institutions of Azerbaijan will be reduced in a new academic year. "Some media's reports on this issue are not true," the minister said.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.
