Editor-in-chief detained in Azerbaijan

Police have detained editor-in-chief in Azerbaijan.

Khural newspaper's editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli told Trend that officer of the Narimanov Police Office Mehdi Salimov stopped car of his newspaper's worker today.

Zeynalli interfered with conversation between police and a journalist and introduced his passport. 

"Salimov said "all journalists and editors-in-chief must be "broken" including you" and demanded us to go Narimanov Police Office 17," he said.

Zeynalli said he was interrogated in the absence of a lawyer.

The police officer said the editor-in-chief insulted him.

Zeynalli said he will be taken to the Narimanov court soon and will be sentenced to arrest there.

The newspaper's workers did not obey police, Narimanov Police Office 17 deputy police chief Zaur Kazimov told Trend .

The detained are expected to be sentenced to administrative punishment.
