Bacho Akhalaia was appointed Georgia's defense minister. Formerly he served as deputy defense minister, said the press release of the Presidential Palace, where the meeting of the National Security Council of Georgia takes place.
Akhalaia replaced David Sikharulidze on this post.
Akhalaia was the coordinator of the Liberty Institute NGO, Deputy Ombudsman, head of the department on execution of punishments. Last year he was the deputy minister of defense.
