Today Azerbaijan held a brain-ring intellectual competition among female prisoners.

About six teams attended the brain-ring intellectual competition held in the Justice Ministry's Penitentiary Service's prisons in accordance with the plan of activities for 2010 signed by the Youth and Sports Ministry and Penitentiary Service.

The questions of the competition concerned the history, culture, art, geography, the Constitution of Azerbaijan and the world literature.

Team members, who fought in the first and second subgroups, responded to seven questions in each game. Edelweiss team headed by Gulnara Mirzoyeva won the competition. The winners were awarded with diplomas and memorable gifts.

Today, the women prisoners also held an exhibition of their hand works. The exhibition presented 46 works.

The jury decided to give the first place to Yagut Abbasova, second place - Sevil Aliyeva and third place - Gulnara Mirzoyeva. The winners were awarded prizes.

In accordance with the plan of activities for 2010, the relevant agencies plan to organize various sports competitions, intellectual games and several other events for prisoners to study the laws and the rights of prisoners, "Head of General Department of Youth and Sports of Baku Ragif Abbasov said.

Stressing the importance of such activities, Abbasov said that efforts in this direction will continue.
