Azerbaijani Embassy in Uzbekistan jointly with the State Museum of History of Timurids conducted an evening on the 85th anniversary of the drama "Amir Timur" by the famous Azerbaijani dramatist Huseyin Javid.
On April 9, in the 674th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest personalities in the history of mankind - Amir Timur, the representatives of foreign embassies accredited in Uzbekistan, officials of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of scientific and creative intelligentsia of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, the activists of the Azerbaijani diaspora gathered at the Big Hall of the State Museum of History of Timurids.
Giving speeches at the evening, the charge d'affaires of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan Akif Aliyev, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Saidahmad Gulyamov and director of the State Museum of History of Timurids Nazim Khabibullayev stated that for decades the image of Amir Timur was reflected in science and literature as cruel conqueror and tyrant.
It was possible only after independence to pay tribute to the greatest military leader, statesman, the unifier of the Turkic world, the patron of the sciences, arts, crafts and trade - Amir Timur.
Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Teymur Kerimli said that a special attitude towards the personality of Amir Timur has created in Azerbaijan. The image of Amir Timur in art and literature in Azerbaijan was considered as a symbol of the greatness of all the Turkic world.
The best of the works by Azerbaijani authors, in all the grandeur and diversity reflecting the image of Amir Timur was recognized as the drama of the same name by the famous Azerbaijani poet, dramatist and public activist Huseyin Javid (1882-1941).
In 1925, Huseyin Javid finished the historical drama. Created by author, the image of Amir Timur did not fit into the framework of the Soviet ideology, but Javid's authority in the cultural world of Azerbaijan was high, and in 1926, the audience watched a play performed at the Academic Theatre of Azerbaijan.
The audience was enraptured by the spectacle, but soon the drama, in which the image of Amir Timur was presented in a broad and multifaceted manner, was banned.
When in 1937 Huseyin Javid was arrested, the accusations against him also included propaganda of personality of Amir Timur.
Being a victim of Stalin's repressions, Huseyin Javid left a number of outstanding works, particularly drama Amir Timur.
