A ceremony was held in Istanbul to mark the 18-anniversary of Turkish news agency Cihan.
Assistant to Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Arinc, head of the party "Saadat" Numan Kurtulmush, head of Istanbul Municipality Kadir Toppash and several other famous people participated in the event.
Former director of the agency Cihan Mesut Erishen, assistant manager of the newspaper Zaman, Mehmet Kamish, as well as leaders of other prominent media outlets attended the ceremony.
Arinc said that despite the presence of many well-known news agencies in the world, Cihan has achieved great success both in information sphere, and the international arena for a short period.
"Cihan competes with the leading news agencies in the world," Arinc said.
Director General of the Agency for International Information (AMI) Trend Ilgar Huseynov was invited to participate in the ceremony. The partnership agreement between AMI Trend and agency Cihan was signed in June 2008.
