SCSA chairwoman: Over 116,000 entrants to take part in entrance exams in Azerbaijan this year

About 115,852 entrants will take part in the entrance examinations in Azerbaijan this year, the State Commission on Student Admission (SCSA) chairwoman Maleyka Abbaszade said at a press conference today.

About 115,852 entrants will take part in the entrance examinations in Azerbaijan this year, the State Commission on Student Admission (SCSA) chairwoman Maleyka Abbaszade said at a press conference today.

"About 37,157 entrants will take part in the examinations on the first group of specialties, about 28,883 - the second group, about 32,697 - the third group, about 16,116 - the fourth group," she said.

Deadline for participation in the entrance examinations completed June 2. The entrance exams will be held for the four groups of specialties June 4-23.

Abbaszade said that about 2,731 applications were not approved.

This year, about 12,461 people will participate in the exams to identify talent and special abilities. More than 50 percent of them are entrants wishing to enter the Academy of Physical Culture and Sports.

About 22 European and World champions submitted their applications. They were approved. These people will be admitted in college without the exams", she said.

According to the law "Education", winners of the world competitions on the subjects, international competitions and high level competitions are admitted to higher educational institutions without the exams.

She said that the number of entrants from the regions affected by the disaster, has not been reduced compared to the last year.
