Azerbaijan to host int'l conference in 2011

It is planned to hold an international conference devoted to admission to the public service in Azerbaijan by late 2011, chairman of the Commission on the Public Service under the Azerbaijani President Bahram Khalilov said in his speech at the scientific conference on "Legal and moral-psychological bases of public service in Azerbaijan" held at the Academy of Public Administration under the Azerbaijani President.

According to chairman of the commission, capable, competent people with high personal qualities must be admitted to the public service. Admission to the civil service will be held on a competitive basis.

Chairman of the commission said that radical changes in the test exams were made to admit to the public service. In future they will be conducted through computers.

The questions on the specialty were removed. But the questions to help determine the general outlook of the candidate were added.

"At the interview candidates' inability to analyze and make certain decisions were. Therefore, we removed questions for the specialty from the test exams," Khalilov said.

Rector of the Academy of Public Administration Seifaddin Gandilov told about the importance of the professional day of civil servants.

He said that Azerbaijan has rich experience in public service and a strong legal basis for the civil service system. The basic principles of public service have been established by national leader Heydar Aliyev.

June 23 was declared a professional holiday of public servants upon the Decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev May 25, 2006.
