Azerbaijan, Baku, July 14 / Trend M.Aliyev /
Azerbaijan will use a new mechanism for the naming, Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences' (ANAS) Information Technology Institute (ITI) Director Rasim Aliguliyev said.
"The ANAS commission of scholars study the meanings of the Azerbaijani citizens' names upon the Justice Ministry's recommendation. The list of names developed under the 'Traffic light' mechanism will be submitted to the Justice Ministry," Aliguliyev said.
Under this mechanism, the names that correspond to national, cultural and ideological values of Azerbaijan will be included in the "green list" and no restrictions will be applied in assigning these names. The second category of names will be included in the "yellow list" - the names objectionable, is not recommended, panic, having an ugly sound in other languages. The names of the third category will be included in the "red list" and these names will not be tolerated. These names include the names of persons who have committed aggression against the Azerbaijani people, names, whose meaning is insulting in our language.
Aliguliyev said the new mechanism will be launched by late 2010.
"Any name that is not listed, will be forwarded to the appropriate committee of the ANAS, and assignment of the name will be allowed after the commission voices its opinion," he said.
