Press Council chairman: Information exchange in ecological sphere between Azerbaijani and Russian journalists should be expanded

Information exchange should be expanded exactly in the ecological sphere between Azerbaijani and Russian journalists, the Press Council chairman Aflatun Amashov said at a meeting with representatives of the Astrakhan region’s delegation, consisting of representatives of various structures to study and coverage of ecological problems of the Caspian Sea.

Information exchange should be expanded exactly in the ecological sphere between Azerbaijani and Russian journalists, the Press Council chairman Aflatun Amashov said at a meeting with representatives of the Astrakhan region's delegation, consisting of representatives of various structures to study and coverage of ecological problems of the Caspian Sea.

"Azerbaijani media attaches great importance to coverage of issues relating to the status, ecological state of the Caspian Sea, and processes regarding the Caspian Sea as a whole. Our Russian colleagues always constantly keep this topic in sight. This is an important factor in addressing the political regarding the Caspian Sea," Amashov said.

Participants of the meeting - Deputy Chairman of the JV, Chairman of the International Eurasian Press Fund Umud Rahimoglu, Trend Agency director general Ilgar Huseynov, chief editor of the "Azerbaijan News" newspaper Gulnara Huseynova, 7 +" Channel's employee Anna Sagunova, the Astrakhan Television and Radio Company's member Anastasia Krotova and others voiced proposals to increase mutual cooperation. To this end, the sides decided to sign a protocol of intentions.

Deputy Chairperson of the Government Tatiana Yusupova told local journalists on the Administration's activities in this area. "The Astrakhan region's media outlets always keep both political and economic issues related to the Caspian Sea in the center of attention," Yusupov said.

Yusupova provided information about the specific measures undertaken in order to attract public attention to this issue.

Employee of the Astrakhan Press Center "Caspian" Dmitry Averkin spoke about the importance of preferences of projects aimed at development of ecotourism by Azerbaijan and Russia's journalist organizations.

According to head of the Monitoring Group of Azerbaijani Committee to Protect Journalists "RUH" Anna Bartkulashvili, it's necessary to get journalistic activity in connection with a particular ecological state of the Caspian Sea. She said understanding between the journalists and officials in this matter is also important.
