Azerbaijan granted the appeal of a soldier accused of raping a fellow officer today.
The Ganja Appeal Court refused the appeal of Junior Sergeant of the Defense Ministry's Military Unit No. N Malik Mammadov, and granted the appeal of soldier Marhamat Huseynov.
The court changed an earlier sentence by the Military Heinous Crimes Court against Huseynov from 3.5 years to nine months in prison.
The court refused to grant Mammadov's appeal. He will be sent to prison for six years.
The soldiers were charged with committing sodomy and sexually assaulting their fellow soldiers.
The criminal case involved 10 victims.
