The Ministry of Education began to create short-term educational groups for pre-school preparation of children in Azerbaijani regions, Narmina Alnagiyeva, the director of pre-school education sector under the Ministry of Education, said.
The pre-school preparation of children under 5 will be conducted in these educational groups. A pilot project in this direction has been implemented since 2010-2011 school year in some areas of Baku.
"At present, kindergartens in Azerbaijan are overcrowded. Creating such groups will become an alternative way to solve this problem," she said.
At present, there are 1,635 kindergartens in Azerbaijan. Roughly 1,571 kindergarten are owned by the state. Over 108,000 children attend these kindergartens.
