The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry's Central State Traffic Police Department does not exclude the possibility of eliminating the stationary posts of traffic police officers.

"Following the complete technological provision of traffic police cars, fixed posts maybe eliminated. They can be replaced by mobile posts. However, at the moment, the fixed posts are needed," Spokesman Kamran Aliyev said.

Aliyev added that fixed traffic police posts do not hinder the movement of traffic.

"These posts have a great role in the detection of stolen vehicles and the arrests of offender who flee from crimes. They inspect and detain wanted vehicles," he added.

These fixed posts are needed for drivers, he stressed. They have all of the necessary conditions to help drivers who are sick or suffering from fatigue, he underscored.

"These posts do not occupy the roadway. They play an important role in preventing crimes and arresting people who are trying to escape from criminal responsibility," Aliyev said.
