Azerbaijan , Baku, April 18 / Trend /

A monitoring group of the Azerbaijani Press Council has monitored journalists' professional activity at an unsanctioned rally scheduled for Sunday by the Public Chamber. The monitoring did not record any incidents with the media, the Press Council reported.

Most media correspondents covering the rally wear special jackets with the words "PRESS", which allow them to stand out. The monitoring group revealed that some journalists were without the special jackets and gave appropriate recommendations.

During the rally, the police officers arrested two Swedish journalists and then transferred them to the State Migration Service for investigation. The journalists have not been accredited by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. The Press Council underlines the importance of foreign media representatives' accreditation in the relevant bodies of executive power in accordance with the Azerbaijani legislation.

The Press Council also urges all journalists covering mass protests, particularly unauthorized rallies, to wear the special jackets.

The monitoring group also included the law enforcement officials.
