Azerbaijan , Baku, April 21/ Trend, M. Aliyev /
Azerbaijani Parliament will begin public discussions over a bill envisaging a provision of public social services.
The bill "On Social Services" will be submitted for discussion to the Social Service Department of the Baku State University with the participation of MPs next week," Parliamentary Social Policy Committee Deputy Chairman, MP Musa Guliyev told Trend .
He said the new law will define the categories of citizens who are in need of social assistance, and the forms of social services: at home, at state stationary institutions or at private institutions.
In addition, it is planned to create centers for the provision of social assistance at the local offices of the international organizations Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, he said.
"After creating a legal framework for social services in Azerbaijan, the status of social workers --their rights and responsibilities -- will be determined. Social workers will not carry out their activities on a voluntary basis, the state will issue their work salaries," Guliyev said.
