Azerbaijan will buy new vessels to clean the bottom of rivers from silt, Minister for Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov told media.

"The problem with rising water level in rivers is being solved," he said. "New vessels will be bought to clean the bottom of rivers from silt. The first ship will arrive in the country in the coming days. The vessels will operate around the Kura river. The bottom of the river will be deepened by two meters through these vessels."

He said that the ministry manages the water resources.

"The Mingachevir reservoir water level is 78.2 meters," he said. "Last year the figure was 82 meters. Water resources are managed as in previous years. But it was not coordinated. Today, the problems are associated with raising the groundwater in the areas adjacent to the Kura River. But there are no facts of flooding. There will be no floods this year."
